Managing a children's choir: A musical and pedagogical view from the example of TRT Diyarbakir Children's Choir

Children's choirs are part of the musical education program that helps children develop their musical abilities and self - confidence, and creates a social environment for them by bringing them together with other children who are interested in music. For this reason, the positive effects of choral education on the development of children were mentioned in this study. In addition, the importance of children's choir studies, which contribute to the development of children's musical skills and also enable them to develop individually, socially and culturally, was emphasized with this study. Children's choir studies were evaluated musically and pedagogically, and the methods and techniques applied in the children's choir education process were examined on the axis of TRT Diyarbakır Children's choir. The research was handled as a descriptive study based on the screening model. As a result of the research, it has been concluded that children's choirs contribute significantly to laying the foundation of early music education and contribute to the multi-faceted development of individuals in social, cultural, psychological, educational and economic aspects as well as their musical development. It has been determined that choir activities increase children's self-confidence, facilitate self-expression and improve their creativity, the choir works give the children the habit of singing, their hearing abilities are improved with rhythmic reading and solfeggio exercises. It was determined during this study that meticulous studies were carried out as TRT Children's Choir in 8 regions.
