Abstract

Today, there are many studies conducted with modern scientific techniques and methods, in which the disciplines of art and science work together, and especially artistic practices are examined from a scientific perspective. The interdisciplinary approach, which has become widespread especially in the 21st century, brings together many different disciplines in music studies. This study was conducted with the literature review method to present scientific methods and approaches used in music research together. The methods commonly used in music research are descriptive scanning, interview-based qualitative models, semi-experimental and experimental models, and analysis of works (in terms of musical elements such as mode, maqam, style, form, harmony, etc.). Although their number has increased in recent years, there are also multidisciplinary research models using clinical techniques that are not yet very common. In addition, when the postgraduate theses of the last four years and the articles published in national journals are examined, it is seen that the scanning model is used incorrectly in some studies. It is obvious that this situation should not continue in the future and that young researchers who are growing up should have the right formation in scientific research methods.
