Special Issue Policy
TM’s Special Issue Policy
General Definition
Special issues of the Turkish Music Journal (TM) are collections of articles focusing on specific research areas within the journal’s scope. Special issues are prepared by guest editors to explore emerging topics, highlight sub-disciplines, or encourage interdisciplinary approaches.
Special Issue Proposals and Procedures
– Researchers may submit special issue proposals to TM and apply for guest editorship.
– The TM editorial board may also invite researchers to serve as guest editors for topics it deems appropriate.
– Proposals are carefully evaluated in terms of the subject’s relevance and the qualifications of the proposed editor.
– The editorial board reserves the right to cancel a special issue if the number of articles is insufficient, topics are overly narrow, or quality standards are not met.
Publication and Ethical Principles
– Special issues must align with the scope of TM, and guest editors are responsible for ensuring this compliance.
– TM editors reserve the right to oversee the content suitability of special issues.
– All processes adhere to COPE ethical principles.
Timeline
– The special issue editor, in collaboration with the TM editorial team, prepares a timeline covering submission, review, layout, and publication dates.
– This timeline is announced on the journal’s website.
Conflicts of Interest
– All editors and reviewers involved in a special issue must disclose potential conflicts of interest.
– Editors with conflicts of interest do not participate in the process; substitute editors are appointed.
– Conflicts of interest must be reported in writing to the publisher.
Peer Review
– Articles in special issues are evaluated using the same double-blind and independent peer review procedures applied to regular issues.
– The special issue editor coordinates the process; however, final quality control is carried out by TM’s Editors-in-Chief.
– Articles involving academic misconduct, bias, or misuse of data are rejected.
Citation Policy
– Special issue editors cannot pressure authors to cite their own work or specific sources.
– Citation manipulation is considered an ethical violation and handled according to COPE guidelines.
Participation of Guest Editors
– Guest editors may submit no more than one article related to the theme of the special issue.
– To ensure impartiality, a substitute editor is assigned to handle the review process of this submission.
Number of Articles and Frequency
– Special issues must contain no fewer than 5 and no more than 10 articles.
– The number of special issues published in a year cannot exceed one-third of the number of regular issues.
Responsibilities of the Special Issue Editor
– Preparing an introductory text for the special issue.
– Inviting potential authors and researchers.
– Supervising the peer review process.
– Promoting the special issue through social media, conferences, and academic platforms.
– Enhancing the national and international visibility of the special issue.
Call and Reprint
