Musical expression-oriented analysis of the lyrics of Aşık Veysel folk songs in the context of voice education

Aşık Veysel is one of the most important representatives of Turkish folk music. His folk songs have universal features both musically and textually. This study aims to analyze the textual structure of 6 folk songs of Aşık Veysel in terms of expression and values. At the same time, it is discussed how folk songs can be used to develop musical expression in the context of voice education. The aim of the research is to analyze Aşık Veysel's folk songs in terms of vocal education and to reveal their musical expression features. The research is important in terms of analyzing the dimensions of Aşık Veysel's folk songs in terms of discourse (text) analysis, musical expression and vocal education. In the research, information about Aşık Veysel's life, art and general characteristics of his folk songs were given. In addition, the socio-cultural and educational dimensions of the association of Aşık Veysel folk songs with musical expression have also been tried to be addressed by mentioning the research topics in other disciplines. The examined folk songs were transferred to Maxqda24 qualitative data analysis software, the expressions in the lyrics were coded and the musical expressions were colored and indicated with the document portrait tool. Conclusions about how these expressions should be handled in voice education were written and suggestions were developed. As a result of the research, it was seen that Aşık Veysel's folk songs mostly include expressions of emotions such as love, love, tolerance, loyalty, search, and admiration. The research suggests that Aşık Veysel folk songs should be studied more in the field of vocal education.
