Muslim Magomayev and Asaf Zeynalli's address to oral traditional music genres

Abstract

Article is devoted to the analysis and characteristic features of the works created by the outstanding Azerbaijani composers - M.Magomayev and A.Zeynalli, by addressing traditional oral music genres. The main purpose of the research is to study the characteristic features of the works created by the famous Azerbaijani composers - M.Magomayev and A.Zeynalli, addressing the oral traditional music genres, and to note the role and importance of folk creativity in these works. It is also important to emphasize the significant components of their works such as form, melody, rhythm, harmony, polyphony and structure, to pay attention to the forms of using folk music genres and especially the role of mugham.The research is based on the lack of knowledge in the field of researching the works created by M.Magomayev and A.Zeynalli by referring to oral traditional music genres, and the detailed research presented will solve this problem by revealing a new and rich source of information. In the article, M.Magomayev's operas "Shah Ismayil" and "Nargiz" and instrumental works, romances, fugues, "Children's suite", "Mughamsagi", "Fragments", especially A. Zeynallı's "My Country", are examined. analyzed. These documents are creative, not a complete analysis, but the examples of folklore in these works, especially the rules of expression from folk songs, folk dances and mugham elements, have been fully analyzed and at the same time, the notes of the mentioned works have been compiled and examples have been presented. The available reference in this field was referred to, and the obtained data were presented after passing through the author's filter.During the research, it became clear that prominent representatives of Azerbaijani musical culture, Muslim Magomayev and Asaf Zeynalli, created a collection of magnificent musical works by working with folk music examples in their own way. In the works written by these composers in different genres, the address to folk music intonations and mugham elements has determined their national style and resulted in the creation of colorful genres, including national siphonism filled with rich elements. Thus, after the genius composer U. Hajibeyli, M. Magomayev and A. Zeynalli were the first composers in the history of Azerbaijani musical culture who skillfully approached folklore examples, mugham intonations, and created a wonderful circle of images and deep content in their works.The use of folk music in M. Magomayev's creativity found its manifestation in two directions. The first of these is the conversion of folk epics and narratives into the plot line of works, and the second is the use of folk music, song, dance, and mugham intonations. Both directions organically met in the work of M. Magomayev, and the composer made invaluable contributions to the musical culture of Azerbaijan with his rich range of images and magnificently developed musical works. In all of A. Zeynalli's works, there are deep traces of masterly use of folk music and mugham intonations. He is an artist who has created rich melodies through national lad-maqams and turned mugham elements into the basis of his creativity. The composer, vocal, piano, and symphonic in his works, working on the basis of the national scale, instilled folk characteristics into the form, intonation, and content.
