Abstract

Music values, a product of local culture, which form an important part of our national culture, have been compiled and recorded from the past to the present. Although these compiled folk songs were mostly fed by the local people living in sedentary areas, they also got their share from different cultures that settled in many parts of the country living as nomadic people throughout Turkey. In our country, there are not many studies that talk about the music practices of the Yoruks, who lived in the Safranbolu district of Karabük. Studies on the musical folklore of Safranbolu nomads are very limited, since the Yoruks who lived in various provinces of Turkey before were examined in social, cultural, artistic, literary and many fields. In this study, Safranbolu nomads' music practices in wedding, henna, mourning, ceremonial rituals and social lives are given as an example from Safranbolu folk songs.
