Abstract

The book titled "The Tradition of Sufi Music in Kosovo" focuses on the examination of Sufi music as a musical and sociocultural phenomenon in Kosovo, in connection with the development and influence of tekkes and other Islamic institutions in the Balkans. In the study, all previously written and published materials related to this subject have been considered, and the opinions of pioneers working in this field have been consulted, with the aim of achieving a scientific and academic level and continuing an ongoing effort. It has been observed that research on this type of musical creativity was limited in number and had deficiencies before and during the publication of this book. The book consists of four chapters: Chapter 1. Ottoman Rule and Islam in Kosovo, Chapter 2. The Practice, Space, Rituals, and Ceremonies of Sufi Music, Chapter 3. The Tekkes of Kosovo, Chapter 4. The Hymns of Kosovo. This book explains the role of each of the tekkes as an art center in the development of Sufi music.
