Literary expression features used in music by Kars Karapapak minstrels migrated from Azerbaijan

Abstract

This study examines the literary expression characteristics used in music by the Karapapak Ashiks, immigrants from Azerbaijan to Kars, and provides a detailed analysis of the cultural heritage of the Karapapak ethnic group that migrated from Azerbaijan to the Kars region. Additionally, it aims to contribute to the in-depth understanding of the works of the Karapapak Ashiks and to the transmission of this cultural heritage to future generations. The research is primarily based on interviews conducted with renowned Ashiks from Kars, Bilal Ersarı and Ensar Şahbazoğlu. The data obtained from these interviews have been categorized into different thematic groups processed in the works of the Ashiks. During the research process, the literary characteristics used by the Ashiks of Kars in their music were examined in depth. This examination encompasses various components such as language used, style, thematic elements, and literary motifs. Our objective is to reveal the literary aspects and themes of the musical expression styles, which are an important part of the cultural heritage of the Karapapak ethnic group, in detail. The works of the Kars Karapapak Ashiks not only possess artistic value but also hold socio-cultural and historical significance. These works reflect the values, beliefs, and lifestyles that the Karapapak ethnic group has carried from the past to the present. In the study, the content of these works was carefully analyzed, and the characteristics of the language and style used, thematic aspects, and literary motifs were examined in detail. For future research, it may be suggested to investigate the literary expressions of the Kars Karapapak ethnic group for different individuals and regions.
